Becoming a Probation Officer
Becoming a Probation Service Officer (PSO) or a Probation Officer (PO)
The new national Probation Qualifications Framework provides work-based pathways to qualify as either a Probation Service Officer (PSO) or as a Probation Officer (PO).
To qualify as PSO, the Vocational Qualification Level 3 Diploma in Probation Practice needs to be gained.
To apply for Probation Officer posts either the Honours Degree in Community Justice and Vocational Qualification or (for graduates with a relevant honours degree) the Graduate Diploma in Community Justice and Vocational Qualification Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice needs to be gained.

All qualifications are undertaken whilst candidates are in the workplace.

Cheshire Probation currently have no plans for external recruitment on to the Probation Qualifications Framework for the year 2010/11. For future opportunities, please review this website again from January 2011.
